Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Young People

To provide expert advice and support on a daily basis to a wide-ranging workforce on all aspects of safeguarding work, including highly complex, difficult, sensitive and emotive situations.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with other Named and Designated Professionals across the network, supporting all activities necessary to ensure that NCIC meets its responsibilities in safeguarding.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of safeguarding services.
  • Ensure robust systems for effective, timely information sharing between staff within and outside of NCIC.
  • Implement and manage safeguarding systems and activities relating to child sexual exploitation, contextual safeguarding, responses to child deaths, practice reviews and partnership work.
  • Act as an expert support to the Safeguarding Hub and safeguarding administrators.
  • Act as the safeguarding lead for children across the organisation, promote best practice and challenge poor practice.
  • Coordinate and communicate with inter-agency partners, oversee governance, training, monitoring and supervision.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse with experience in safeguarding practice.
  • Deep knowledge of the RCN Intercollegiate Document Safeguarding Children and Young People and related competencies.
  • Strong leadership, advisory and coordination skills across multi-agency settings.
  • Capacity to manage complex, sensitive safeguarding situations.
