The Post Holder Will Work Within The Department Of Physical Health Psychology. The Dept Offers Specialist Psychological Input Across Cumbria To Patients With Health And Neurological Problems. This Includes Long Term Conditions, Including COPD, Diabetes And Cardiac Problems, Cancer And Palliative Care. The Post Holder Will Deliver a Service Both Directly And Indirectly, Including

  • Direct care for complex cases, including assessment and therapy, working with patients and their families
  • Training in a range of psychological skills including CBT skills for primary care health workers,
  • Consultancy to other health teams, GPs etc,
  • Supervision of other professionals, for example specialist nurses, in providing psychological care
  • Providing group interventions with other AHPs based on a CBT model
This post holder will provide therapy and indirect care to patients with a combination of physical health problems and co morbid psychological problems. This post will contribute to this service and similarly promote:
  • Integrated working in primary and secondary care, across the Heath economy
  • Collaborative work with other professionals
  • Teaching
  • Training
  • Supervision
To support and enhance the Physical Health Psychology Service. The role will include varied responsibilities, including:
Provision of individual and group cognitive behavioural therapy for patients with Health related difficulties, in line with NICE guidance
To work across North Cumbria for the broader PHRP team with Psychological Therapist, Physiotherapists, and Rehabilitation Assistants.
To provide specialist training to other health service staff working with persistent symptom presentations.
To offer supervision in CBT to other health service staff
To develop audit and research strategies within the service locality
To establish pathways within the trust and with other health care providers, including GPs.
