We are looking for a new IT Workshop Assistant to join our Support and Deployment IT Team, based in Carlisle to help and support IT staff with the management and delivery of IT equipment throughout Cumbria. The Trust's vision is to maximise health and wellbeing in our community. Technology is intrinsic to healthcare across Cumbria, so to support this vision, our Digital Health team provides a customer-focused service which is responsive, proactive and tailored to the Trust's needs. We are looking for individuals with a passion for service improvement and the motivation to succeed.

Main duties of the job:

  • You would be working as part of a team, who will accurately receive, record and maintain this equipment.
  • Monitor stock levels throughout our technical bases and provide support with cascade equipment, as efficiently and accurately as possible, maintaining the asset management system to the highest standard.
  • You will be supporting and working as part of a technical IT team comprising remote and field-based staff.
  • You will need to ensure equipment is always available for the support staff, throughout multiple bases.
  • Enabling these teams to resolve problems for staff who rely on IT to deliver patient care across Cumbria as efficiently as possible.
  • Deliver the best possible service to our staff drawing on your asset management and organisation skills to ensure new and old equipment is recorded and monitored accurately.
  • Ensure equipment is at the correct standard needed to enable support for all end-user devices, as well as all associated software and services.

Person Specification:

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 5 or above, including Maths and English
  • Degree in an IT related subject or in-depth knowledge gained through working in a corporate IT Environment.
  • Membership of professional body
  • Microsoft Certification (MTA, MCSA, MCSE)
  • ITIL v3 Foundation

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Recent experience in a relevant IT Support role
  • Troubleshooting and resolving IT hardware and software issues
  • IT Support in the NHS
  • Microsoft Server based products including Exchange, SCCM, and Group Policies
  • Configuring, supporting and deploying Microsoft Windows operating systems
  • Configuring, supporting and deploying Microsoft Windows based applications, including Office
  • Active Directory users and computers

Other requirements:

  • Ability to travel independently of public transport with equipment
  • Willing to work in a flexible and dynamic manner
  • Must be willing to participate in an out of hours on-call service if required
  • Driving licence and use of own vehicle
