Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor - Bank post

We are looking for a friendly and motivated individual to join our Occupational Therapy team at the Cumberland Infirmary, as a bank Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor.

Main duties of the job

To work under the direction of the Occupational Therapist and complete delegated duties. Supervise patients in activities relating to their treatment programme and feedback to the Occupational Therapist. Apply patient centred principles in all clinical areas.

The service is part of a strong Occupational Therapy network, with links to the team at the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle, as well as the wider health and social care settings across North Cumbria. This provides many professional development opportunities and there is a strong focus on CPD within the team. You will have access to high quality, regular clinical supervision, and we offer an excellent induction, ongoing professional support and a highly rewarding job to the successful applicant.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Skills and Aptitudes

  • Ability to establish relationships with patients and carers and work with them in a supported environment.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and maths or equivalent.
  • Care Certificate or the willingness and ability to undertake (applicable for all non-registered support workers that provide health care)
  • QCF III (health), equivalent or willingness and ability to undertake.
  • Essential IT skills (EITS) or equivalent.

Experience

  • Work as an occupational therapy assistant or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of working in an MDT
  • Caring responsibilities.
  • Employment in an acute hospital setting.
  • Experience of facilitating groups.
  • Experience working within a rehabilitation setting.

Knowledge

  • Physical disability and its impact on lifestyle.
