North Co Recruitment are working with a Lloyd's managing agency to appoint a Reserving Manager into their actuarial function.
It's a senior, highly visible role with direct line of sight to the actuarial and finance leadership team, offering real input into reserving decisions across the syndicates under management rather than a narrow technical seat far removed from where decisions get made.
What you'll do
- Own day-to-day oversight of actuarial best estimate reserves and Solvency UK Technical Provisions across the syndicates under management.
- Review and challenge reserving results prepared by external providers and outsourced functions, escalating concerns where needed.
- Partner with Underwriting, Claims, Finance and Risk to set and stress-test key reserving assumptions.
- Prepare and present papers for reserving committees and wider governance forums, including Audit, Risk and Board.
- Contribute reserving input to ORSAs and Actuarial Function Reports, helping ensure processes meet Lloyd's, PRA and IFo A requirements.
- Get involved in the reserving side of wider business change, from process improvements to bringing new syndicates on board.
What we're looking for
- Non-Life actuarial experience gained within Lloyd's or the wider London Market.
- Qualified actuary, or no longer progressing with exams, with equivalent experience.
- Strong technical grasp of Solvency UK and GAAP requirements for Technical Provisions.
- Solid understanding of London Market reserving methods and practices.
- A track record of reviewing or challenging actuarial reserving output.
- Comfortable presenting and communicating with senior stakeholders.
- Confidence working across teams and disciplines beyond reserving.
- Hybrid working applies, with a mix of home and office-based collaboration.
If you're looking for a high-profile reserving role with genuine influence over how syndicates are reserved, exposure to senior leadership and a route into a growing managing agency business, we'd be keen to speak.
