North Co Recruitment are working with a London Market insurer to appoint a senior actuary into a second-line risk function, focused on quantitative risk oversight across the business. This is a high-impact role providing independent risk challenge, strategic insight and governance input across core underwriting, pricing, capital and financial risk activities.
What you’ll do
- Provide independent risk challenge to first-line functions across insurance activities.
- Deliver risk analysis, insight and reporting to support executive and board-level decision making.
- Lead deep-dive reviews into material risk areas and emerging risk themes.
- Contribute to enterprise risk processes, stress testing and solvency assessments.
- Support the evolution of risk governance frameworks and control structures.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders across actuarial, underwriting, finance and capital functions.
- Act as a trusted risk advisor on complex technical and commercial risk issues.
What we’re looking for
- Strong risk management experience within an insurance environment.
- Background in insurance and financial risk, with exposure to solvency, capital and enterprise risk frameworks.
- Experience providing independent challenge and oversight to first-line functions.
- Qualified actuary preferred, or equivalent depth of technical risk experience.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Structured, pragmatic and commercially aware approach to risk management.
- Interest in complex risk environments within specialty insurance / London Market contexts.
Salary: Up to £140,000, plus bonus & benefits.
Location: London, Hybrid working.
