North Co Recruitment are working with a high growth/scale up commercial lines insurer to appoint a Risk Pricing Manager to drive pricing strategy and profitability across their portfolio. This is a technical pricing role with genuine impact, where you'll build and refine risk models, develop pricing strategies and act as the bridge between technical and commercial teams in a fast-growth, technology-driven environment. This would suit candidates from a personal or commercial lines background who are used to operating in volume/data rich environments.
What you'll do:
- Build and refine technical pricing models to quantify risk and optimise pricing structures.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments to understand market dynamics and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Monitor pricing performance and make real-time adjustments to ensure profitability targets are consistently achieved.
- Partner cross-functionally with underwriting, actuarial and product development teams to align pricing strategies.
- Utilise advanced tools including Python, R, SQL and industry platforms like Earnix, Radar or Emblem to improve model accuracy.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to maintain competitive positioning and market leadership.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a high-performing technical pricing culture.
What we're looking for:
- Strong analytical capability, with a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or similar quantitative field.
- Significant experience in insurance pricing, with deep understanding of market dynamics and risk quantification.
- Technical proficiency in Python, R or SQL, and experience with pricing platforms such as Earnix, Emblem or Radar.
- Strategic thinker able to develop innovative solutions to complex business challenges while maintaining profitability.
- Collaborative leader passionate about mentoring junior team members and building technical capability.
- Resilient and adaptive, comfortable thriving in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing priorities.
