North Co Recruitment are working with a leading UK retail insurer to appoint a Technical Pricing Manager, with vacancies across both Motor and Home. This is a technical pricing role focused on developing, maintaining and improving risk pricing models, turning statistical analysis into commercially sound pricing decisions within a transformation-focused pricing function.
What you'll do
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve risk pricing models and algorithms.
- Lead technical pricing projects that enhance the predictiveness of pricing models and portfolio performance.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders on portfolio analytics to respond to emerging trends.
- Produce expected loss ratio reports and risk indices to support profitability projections.
- Ensure customer fairness is embedded in pricing actions and model development.
- Coach, manage and develop your team, building technical capability and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Help shape technical standards, culture and the evolution of pricing capability across the department.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across pricing, underwriting, claims and finance.
What we're looking for
- Strong understanding of statistical techniques for insurance risk pricing and claims cost modelling.
- Degree in mathematics, computer science or related discipline (2:1 or equivalent).
- Technical capability across pricing analytics and modelling tools (Python, SQL, Databricks or similar desirable).
- Ability to grasp complex technical issues relating to pricing, underwriting, claims and financial analysis.
- Proven ability to plan and prioritise work for yourself and others, with a continuous appetite to learn.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, able to engage stakeholders both within and outside the pricing team.
- Comfortable working under pressure and to strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Previous experience in insurance pricing is desirable but not essential.
