North Co Recruitment are working with a leading Lloyd's/London Market firm to appoint a Head of Insurance Risk to lead insurance risk oversight and Internal Model validation across a geographically diverse, multi-class specialty book. This is a senior, business-facing role for a quantitative risk leader to provide second-line challenge across underwriting, reserving, pricing, exposure management and capital modelling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the insurance risk team, providing independent second-line challenge across underwriting, reserving, pricing, exposure management, capital modelling and reinsurance.
  • Own and shape risk appetite for insurance risks, including catastrophe, underwriting and reserve risk.
  • Drive quarterly risk reporting cycles, providing expert challenge and insight to senior stakeholders.
  • Lead deep-dive risk assessments of underwriting classes and assess key risks to business plan achievability.
  • Own Internal Model validation end-to-end, including planning, execution and presentation of findings to senior committees.
  • Oversee stress and scenario testing, reverse stress testing and production of quantitative ORSA elements.
  • Represent Risk Management at Internal Model Governance Committee and collaborate on ongoing model development.

Requirements:

  • Extensive insurance risk management, actuarial or capital modelling experience from an insurer or consultancy.
  • Self-starter with excellent communication skills, able to present complex risk information to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong financial analysis and data interpretation capability.
