The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK. North Cave Church of England Primary School are looking for an individual who is committed to making a positive impact in the lives of young people to join our friendly and dedicated team, providing in-class support for a pupil with High - Level Special Educational Needs, and small group support.

You will work 15 hours 50 minutes per week, from 8:50am to 12:00pm Monday to Friday during the school term. You will also be paid for an additional 19.5 hours per year, which enables you to attend the school training days. Your actual salary will be £9462 per annum, and this is paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. The post starts in September 2026 and is fixed term until 31 July 2027.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitating the individual pupil's physical, emotional and educational development, by clarifying and explaining instructions;
  • Ensuring the pupil is able to use equipment and materials provided; including moving and handling to meet a child’s individual needs.
  • Assisting in identified areas, e.g. language, behaviour, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting/presentation, the use of ICT, social skills and EAL.
  • Helping pupils to concentrate on, and finish work set;
  • Meeting the physical and personal care needs of pupils as required, whilst encouraging independence where appropriate;
  • Liaising with the class teacher and SENCO about individual needs.
  • Developing appropriate resources to support the pupil(s).
