Murdoch Developmental Center (MDC) is currently recruiting Registered Nurses for multiple positions on 1st shift. The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional nursing care. This RN provides evaluation, assessment, and assures coordination and implementation of care delivery. This RN acts as charge nurse when assigned, provides clinical services and consultation including medication and treatment administration, MD/Professional contacts, & care planning for health needs. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina or in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Successful candidate must be able to pass Healthcare Provider CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) written and physical requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Successful candidate must have a valid Driver License.

This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Scheduled work hours: 1st shift, 6:30am – 3:00pm, 5 days/week, with rotating weekends. Schedule adjustments as needed/requested.

Murdoch is currently recruiting for a variety of full-time permanent positions in multiple cottages. We offer flexible shifts and pay additions for hours worked:

  • 1st 6:30am-3pm 10% Weekend Only
  • 2nd 2:30pm-11pm 15% Weekday & 25% Weekend
  • 3rd 10:45pm-6:45am 20% Weekday & 30% Weekend

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.

All Sign-on Bonuses are contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.

About Murdoch Developmental Center: MDC is one of three regional developmental centers operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). MDC in Butner serves 25 counties in central NC. Murdoch has approximately 1600 employees providing residential services and supports to people with IDD, complex behavioral challenges and/or medical conditions whose clinical treatment needs exceed the level of care available in the community.

Positions in the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities shall be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal record background checks. Also, the use of tobacco products of any kind including vapor products are prohibited from our campuses. All employees are required to adhere to the facility's Vaccination Policy.
