Overview

The Medicine Division at North Bristol NHS Trust are offering a 3 month opportunity to lead one of our complex care wards, Elgar Enablement Unit. We are looking for a compassionate and highly motivated Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to lead our dedicated clinical team. The successful applicant will work with the Matron to promote a culture that fosters staff involvement and service improvement, and will take operational and clinical day-to-day management responsibility at team level using performance management systems.

You will be joining a multi-disciplinary team that is committed to high quality, patient-centred care, continuous service and staff development, and strong collaborative working with other agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Line manage a team of nursing staff working within the ward and work closely with the Matron to ensure the efficient and effective running of the area of responsibility.
  • Have overall responsibility for ensuring their clinical area is safe.
  • Deputise for the Matron and form part of the Divisional senior nursing team.
  • Contribute to the development of patient-centred services.
  • Be responsible for attaining Trust and National quality and safety objectives within the area of responsibility.
  • Provide expert clinical advice and care within the designated area of responsibility.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Degree
  • Relevant post-registration qualification at level 3 / M

Work Experience

  • Significant experience within the specialty
  • 3 years Band 6
  • Evidence of participating in quality improvement within the specialty
  • Evidence of MDT working / community / safeguarding / dementia

Knowledge, skills and attributes

  • Leadership / management skills
  • Extended roles / clinically credible
  • Research and Audit experience
  • Ability to lead and manage change
