Overview

Our current clinical fellows are usually happy to speak to you. The clinical part of the post will include participation in an on-call rota. Only one application is required for all posts, both anaesthesia and ICU. Candidates will be ranked at interview depending on performance, then asked to choose their preferred post. While these posts are not educationally approved or recognised by the Royal College for training purposes, they are educationally sound and well supported. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices, or equivalent, is essential. Applicants are required to be registered medical practitioners and maintain full registration with the GMC. Please note North Bristol NHS Trust will not pay interview expenses in connection with this post.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in an on-call rota as part of the clinical duties.
  • Ranked at interview based on performance and then asked to choose a preferred post (anaesthesia or ICU).
  • Contribute to clinical care within state-of-the-art facilities as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Be a registered medical practitioner with full GMC registration.
  • Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices, or equivalent, is essential.

Remuneration and Contract Details

  • Post commencing February 2026 in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (default expectation is 50:50 split).
  • 48 hour contract.
  • 20% fully remunerated protected time allocated for personal professional development.
  • This post is for a 48 hour contract.

Opportunity and Suitability

This is an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals to further develop their CV in this Clinical Fellow (ST3/4) post and join a team of dynamic clinicians delivering care in state-of-the-art facilities. The post will be of interest to any anaesthetist who has finished core/stage 1 training and is currently working towards completing stage 1 or in preparation for ST4 applications, including primary exam preparation. Stage 2 competencies can be supported during this post for up to 1 year. It would also be suitable for Medicine/EM trainees (or dual with ICM), at a similar stage in their careers, who wish to apply for ICM-only posts.
