The session facilitator works alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child‑led play and positive guidance, support planning and assessment for learning, and positively support the Playcentre education programme.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Engage children in playful, stimulating, and imaginative experiences that encourage exploration, problem‑solving, and independence.
  • Foster strong, responsive relationships with tamariki, recognising their individual strengths, interests, and cultural diversity.
  • Promote inclusive learning by encouraging communication, expression, and the development of positive learning dispositions.

Monday 9:15am‑1:15pm and Tuesday and Thursday 9:15am‑12:45pm, 11 hours per week. This is a permanent school‑term‑time only position.

About you

The ideal candidate will be able to support parents and caregivers to confidently run sessions, model Playcentre philosophy, and enhance children’s learning, while fostering a strong whānau‑led culture by building members’ knowledge, confidence, and leadership.

You will also have:

  • Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations, and a commitment to Te Tiriti Waitangi.
  • Passion for Playcentre philosophy and empowering whānau to feel included and engaged.
  • Confidence using technology to support learning and administration.
  • Minimum Course 3 of the Playcentre Education Diploma or equivalent ECE Qualification (L4 or above desired).
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.
  • NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
