The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 Β£ per year.

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Participate in team efforts to create the appropriate ambience and regime for the care of the resident group in accordance with the stated function, aims and objectives of the unit and in accordance with the Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice.
  • Work under supervision to produce care plans for particular children and young people, to be instrumental in their delivery and to assist the Unit Manager in monitoring their effectiveness.
  • Assist residents and their parents/carers in decision-making processes as appropriate.
  • Support children and young people in developing their identity and personal relationships.
  • Support children and young people when they are distressed and those with difficult or potentially difficult relationships.
  • Contribute to the protection of all individuals from abusive behaviour in all its forms.
  • Promote communication with children and young people where there are communication difficulties.
  • Obtain, transmit and store information relating to the delivery of care service.
  • Undertake such training as is deemed necessary to discharging the responsibilities of the post and to contribute to the training and development of colleagues and students on placements.
  • For night shift roles only - this is a wakened night shift post.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by North Ayrshire Council. Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant PVG check (Β£59 or Β£18), which will be deducted in instalments from your wages following commencement of employment.
