This post is based within our Education Directorate. This post offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic Educational Psychology Service who have a passionate commitment to applying psychological research to improve the educational outcomes of all children and young people, especially our most vulnerable. The Principal Educational Psychologist will strategically lead the placement process both within the local authority and beyond, ensuring appropriate provision for all. As a Service, we are passionate about our commitment to nurture and have a strong focus on early intervention and prevention, reducing the poverty related attainment gap across a variety of sectors including early years, primary, secondary and specialist educational provisions. The Service actively encourages and supports innovative and creative practice. The Service welcomes applications from aspiring leaders who are suitably qualified to lead our dynamic team.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by North Ayrshire Council. Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant PVG check (£59 or £18), which will be deducted from your salary following commencement of employment.
