Background

In order to strengthen its awareness of the maritime environment, HQ MARCOM is pursuing a number of initiatives to improve maritime situational awareness and strengthen operational decision making.

We are seeking a number of highly motivated individuals with skills and experience in delivering projects that enable data-driven decisions through improved data integration, engineering and analysis. If you have experience in Project Management, Data Science, Data Engineering or Data Integration and a desire to contribute to peace and prosperity of NATO member countries then we’d love to hear from you.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to support the delivery of technical solutions required to integrate complex data and enable data-driven decisions.

Overview

This is a fixed-term 3-year role which will play a critical part in the delivery of critical data integration projects and contribute to MARCOM’s journey to standardise technical practice and lift technical capability in the fields of project management, data engineering and data science.

Areas of Focus

  • Project Delivery - Project success has been enabled by the identification, integration and exploitation of relevant data.
  • Product Management - Data users have access to efficient and intuitive data products and analytical tools which are complaint with NATO standards, utilise available technology and are underpinned by reliable and valid data.
  • Data Management and Governance - Decision makers have confidence in situational awareness data which informs their decisions as a result of the security, safety, integrity and availability of relevant data sets.
  • Capability Resilience - MARCOM has developed and adopted the appropriate architecture (policies, procedures, guidelines and ways of working) to strengthen maturity and enable continuous improvement in the areas of data integration.

Your Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • 3+ years experience of relevant work in data integration, data analysis or software development
  • 1+ year + experience of applying data science tools to support advanced data analytics, machine learning and data visualisation
  • Higher Secondary education and completed higher vocational training in information technology, computer science, data science or a closely related field; or
  • Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 5 years post related experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering data integration using AI and or Machine Learning Tools e.g. Databricks, Watson, Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit, TensorFlow.
  • Demonstrable experience of designing mathematical and statistical models to resolve business challenges.
  • Demonstrable experience applying data science, analytics and data integration tools/programming languages on real-world datasets e.g. Python, R, KNIME, Splunk, Geo data.

Desirable:

  • Industry recognised qualification / accreditation in relevant field.
  • Demonstrable experience of data visualisation tools e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau.
