Job description
Our breaking news, exclusive investigations and social media campaigns are picked up by both local and national press. We pride ourselves on our in‑depth investigations, using a range of platforms to reach our readership – from podcasts and live blogging to Twitter chats, Facebook Live and interactive graphics. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and tenacious reporter; eager to scope out fresh angles to news stories, and experiment with new ways to present content online.
Working in our central London headquarters (on a hybrid‑working basis) as part of the award‑winning C+D team – this role will involve breaking exclusives and collaborating on thought‑provoking analysis pieces. There will also be some UK‑wide travel at times.
Responsibilities
- Work with the news editor to set the brand’s news agenda, and write daily exclusive news stories for the UK’s community pharmacists.
- Become a complete expert in your patch – following up on the big issues without prompting from the editors.
- Develop a strong list of trusted contacts who will feed off‑the‑record stories and briefings.
- Develop high‑level contacts who will be able to confirm and deny rumours.
- Experiment with exciting ways to deliver C+D’s award‑winning content, including videos and podcasts.
- Develop our content to grow our audience.
- Contribute to commercial revenue and growth by supporting C+D at external events – including the C+D Awards and round tables – and in the wider media as appropriate.
- Take on news editing responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Previous news reporter/journalism experience.
- Training from an NCTJ‑accredited course (preferred).
- Brimming with ideas for investigations, interactive content, campaigns and data‑driven journalism.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of media and publishing law.
- A proven track record of meeting deadlines.
- Fastidious attention to detail.
- Self‑motivated.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Passionate about using new ways and social media to develop audience engagement.
- Capable of quickly getting to grips with complex topics.
Benefits
- 25 days annual leave, 4 days for volunteering and a personal day.
- 5% pension match.
- Group Life Assurance (100% employer funded).
- Group Income Protection (100% employer funded).
- Other voluntary benefits such as: Dental, Cash Plan, PMI Excess Cover, Health Screening & Critical Illness.
