Transport Manager required for Amber Valley Norse in Alfreton, Derbyshire - DE55 4NJ. £45,890.21 per annum, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Amber Valley Norse is a successful Joint Venture partnership between Norse Group and Amber Valley Borough Council. We provide both Commercial and Domestic refuse and recycling collections across Derbyshire.

We currently seek a Transport Manager to lead our Fleet operations across the Amber Valley area. As Transport Manager, you will demonstrate continuous and effective control of fleet operations and will report into both the Partnership Director and the Group Fleet Manager.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective and continuous control of all fleet operations.
  • Ensure all Norse vehicles, including Non O-licence, are operated in conjunction with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring all relevant records such as vehicle maintenance, defect records, and Drivers Hours records are completed and retained as per statutory requirements and are available when required.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are kept in a fit and roadworthy condition at all times, and effective management of third-party vehicle maintenance providers used to maintain the Fleet.
  • Assist with specification, tendering, and procurement of vehicles, plant, and equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of business plans, quality, performance targets, and performance management reports.
  • Ensure personal compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice updates.

Candidate Requirements:

Qualifications/Training/Knowledge:

  • Certificate in Professional Competence in Road Haulage (National).
  • Extensive knowledge of Operator Licensing requirements.
  • Automotive Engineering qualification.
  • Level 3 Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
  • Member of relevant professional body.

Experience:

  • Proven management experience in a similar role managing diverse transport operations.
  • Experience of vehicle maintenance workshops.
  • Experience of municipal vehicles and plant operations.
  • Experience of using Fleet Management IT systems.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, confident in giving instruction and direction effectively and concisely.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise, and manage your own workload, meeting strict deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, empower, and provide guidance to others.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, as an individual or as part of a team.
  • Capable of showing flexibility in your approach to delivering work.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
