We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our highly experienced and multi‑disciplined Quantity Surveying team in Haywards Heath.
This role is ideal for a recent Quantity Surveying graduate or someone in the early stages of their career who is looking to develop their technical knowledge, gain practical project experience and work towards becoming a Chartered Quantity Surveyor.
Working alongside experienced professionals, you will gain exposure to a diverse range of projects, primarily within the public sector, and support the delivery of quantity surveying and cost management services from project inception through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting senior members of the Quantity Surveying team in the delivery of professional quantity surveying and cost management services.
- Assisting in the preparation of project cost estimates, feasibility studies and cost plans appropriate to the RIBA stage of a project and in accordance with NRM.
- Assisting with the preparation of tender documentation and pre‑tender estimates.
- Supporting procurement and tender evaluation activities.
- Assisting in the assessment of variations, change control procedures and project expenditure.
- Supporting the preparation of cost reports and financial updates for clients.
- Assisting with post‑contract cost management activities, including valuations and financial reporting.
- Attending client, design team and project meetings as required.
- Undertaking site visits and inspections to support project delivery.
- Maintaining accurate project records and cost information.
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Participating in structured professional development and APC training where applicable.
- Carrying out other duties commensurate with the role as directed by your line manager.
- Our Successful Candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is keen to develop a successful career in Quantity Surveying.
Relevant industry experience gained through placements, internships or work experience would be beneficial, but is not essential.
- Knowledge and Experience
- Degree (or expected degree) in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- RICS‑accredited degree desirable.
- A genuine interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying and Cost Management.
- Willingness to work towards Chartered status through the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).
- CSCS card holder or willing to obtain.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Awareness of construction industry processes and quantity surveying principles.
- Awareness of construction health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Full UK Driving Licence to meet the travelling requirements of the role.
