The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor based in Milton Keynes, specialising in formwork and groundworks. With an impressive portfolio of reinforced concrete structures including retaining walls, bridges, capping beams and pile caps, they work with some of the UK's leading main contractors across England and Wales. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Formwork Supervisor on a permanent basis. This is a non-working supervisory role, overseeing skilled shuttering gangs on live civils projects across the Midlands. The position is available on either a PAYE or self-employed basis for the right candidate.
The Role
- Supervise and manage shuttering/formwork gangs on site on a day-to-day basis
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards
- Liaise with site management and the client team on progress and any issues arising
- Carry out daily briefings, inductions and toolbox talks as required
- Monitor and maintain compliance with method statements and risk assessments
- Oversee the set-up, striking and repositioning of formwork systems
- Report on labour, plant and material requirements to management
What We're Looking For
- A strong background in shuttering/formwork – candidates must come from a shuttering trade background
- Proven supervisory experience on civils or RC frame projects
- Solid understanding of in-situ concrete works including foundations, retaining walls and bridges
- Experience working with proprietary formwork systems (e.g. Doka, Peri, RMD or similar)
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualified
- Valid CSCS card (Supervisory level preferred)
- First Aid at Work certificate
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team
