Working in the Cambridge area, attached to our Norwich office. Up to £55,000 DoE. 37 Hours per week (working 9-5 with flexible working arrangements). Norse Group's Consulting services is a national, award‑winning property consultancy delivering high‑profile buildings to a range of public and private sector clients across the UK. We are delighted to recruit a new Senior Building Surveyor for a full‑time, permanent position working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday with flexible arrangements.

Our clients include a number of Local Authorities and public sector organisations, with some private sector clients. The role offers a diverse range of project and building types, including education, care homes, waste and residential sectors. Projects include school condition surveys and programmes for corporate public sector buildings. Our wider team delivers everything from planned and reactive maintenance programmes to large Passivhaus residential developments, giving a broad range of experience.

The Role

As a Senior Building Surveyor you will work alongside expert multi‑disciplined property professionals. You will provide technical and business advice on building surveying and maintenance in areas such as condition, asbestos, access audits and fire risk assessments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planned and preventative maintenance condition surveys
  • Technical due diligence surveys for both commercial and residential properties
  • Preparing and undertaking specifications, drawings and risk assessments for new build and refurbishment projects
  • Carrying out site surveys relating to condition, undertaking schedules of condition, dilapidations, measured surveys and defect analysis
  • Leading quality assurance across projects and services, ensuring client needs are met and relevant legislation is adhered to
  • Collating and presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders, offering solutions and recommendations where required

Our Successful Candidate

We seek an experienced professional with:

  • Expertise in building surveying and a proven track record in a similar role
  • Experience working independently as well as within a large multi‑disciplinary team
  • Previous involvement in new build and refurbishment projects
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations and other relevant construction legislation
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, engaging and negotiating with all levels of internal and external parties
  • A strong ability to foster professional relationships with new and existing clients
