Opportunity: Norman Rourke Pryme (NRP) is looking to appoint a talented Highway Engineer from Consultant through to Principal level to play a key role in our growing Highways Engineering business. The roles will primarily involve leading the development of detailed designs in urban environments supported by our existing team, providing technical expertise, and contributing to the future growth of the business. NRP are currently engaged on a number of very high-profile and challenging projects for key clients, and there would be the opportunity to become involved in these projects directly and play a pivotal role in their delivery.
NRP specialises in developing active travel, public realm, traffic and transportation schemes and undertaking transport planning studies for public and private sector clients. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to input into schemes from initial feasibility through to detailed design and implementation. We have established a strong reputation for producing high quality schemes for a variety of purposes and have a good track record in developing innovative methodologies and solutions. The project work that NRP undertakes is varied, challenging and often high-profile due to the clients that we work for in Central London and across the UK. Key Skills / Qualifications Required:
- Good standard relevant degree, or a post graduate qualification in Civil Engineering or a suitable level of professional experience to demonstrate capability.
- At least 3 years industry experience.
- Experience developing highway designs in accordance with the DMRB, TfL streetscape guidance, LTN1/20, LCDS and TSRGD as well as other industry standard documentation and guidance.
- Experience designing using AutoCAD with the ability to produce high quality drawing and design packages.
- Experience completing the Statutory Undertaker’s plant diversion processes from initial searches, through to quotations and collaborative implementation.
- Good written communication skills with the ability to compile reports suitable for issue to clients and stakeholders.
- Experience with industry CDM 2015 requirements for Principal Designers and Designers, with a working knowledge of the responsibilities of the client and contractor.
- Confident communicator liaising with clients, colleagues and sub‑contractors and sub‑consultants.
- Able to work proactively and use initiative.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced team to deliver projects in challenging London locations.
Desirable Skills / Qualifications – preferred but not essential:
- Experience using Gantt charts to plan and track project progress.
- Experience with financial tracking and reporting over the life of a project.
- Experience mentoring junior members of staff and working as a team to deliver projects.
- Ability to take a lead role in delivering a project.
- Working knowledge of Civils 3D.
- Experience collaborating with other disciplines (e.g., urban design).
- Working knowledge designing SuDS and raingardens.
- Working towards Incorporated Engineer or above with a relevant professional body.
