We’re looking for a Maintenance Electrician to help with day-to-day electrical maintenance tasks, both in the field and in the workshop working in a shift pattern. This role is hands-on and focuses on working safely, following set procedures, and keeping things running smoothly. You’ll be part of a team that takes care of electrical systems, making sure everything is done safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. If you’re reliable, safety-minded, and have a solid understanding of electrical work, we’d like to hear from you. This role works in shifts (rotating 12 hour shift schedule of 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts, 4 days off).
Responsibilities
- Follow all safety procedures, systems and policies, including the permit-to-work system and risk assessments.
- Carry out plant isolations and issue permits if authorised.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area after completing tasks.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on equipment like motors, transformers, switchgear, breakers, and lighting.
- Conduct regular inspections, calibrations, and data collection to detect equipment issues early.
- Support root cause analysis of plant issues and contribute to corrective actions.
- Use maintenance software to create work requests and update equipment history.
- Work closely with other departments to coordinate repairs and inspections.
- Ensure smooth shift handovers and complete shift reports.
- Participate in training to improve skills and carry out additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- HND or equivalent education level.
- Time-served Electrical Technician or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5-6 years demonstrable experience working in a manufacturing environment with heavy duty machinery or equivalent.
- Electrical Regulation 17th Edition would be preferable.
- Thorough knowledge of general electrical maintenance activities including HV, LV, motors, control circuits, automation, instrumentation etc.
- Knowledge of basic safety requirements and safety procedures.
- Knowledge and experience of maintenance methods, tools and systems.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and understand all electrical and process control drawings.
- A willingness to embrace change in our drive for continued improvement.
