Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join Norgine in Hengoed, Wales.
The person holding this position will report to the Operational Accounting Manager and be a member of the global Finance team.
The core responsibility of the Assistant Accountant is to support Accounting Managers with day-to-day accounting activities, including preparing balance sheet reconciliations for review by the Accounting Managers, preparing reviews of the fixed asset ledgers to ensure depreciation runs have been correctly executed and updates for additions and disposals correctly made, and preparing Intercompany Profit in Stock files for review by the Accounting Managers. Preparing other key reconciliations, such as cash and inventory reconciliations.

Responsibilities
- Complete key month-end reconciliations and finance processes at month-end in a timely fashion and ensure issues are addressed.
- Post month-end journals including prepayment releases, accruals and other key journals, as required.
- Close month-end tasks within the deadline, communicating any issues with the Accounting Manager team and Head of Operational Accounting on a timely basis.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations ahead of review with the Accounting Managers.
- Support process improvements including the implementation of Blackline automated balance sheet reconciliation tool.
- Support consolidation activities, as required.
- Support the Tax team with CIT, VAT, WHT and other tax processes as required.
- Prepare reviews of the fixed asset ledgers to ensure depreciation runs have been correctly executed and updates for additions and disposals correctly made.
- Prepare Intercompany Profit in Stock files for review by the Accounting Managers.
- Prepare other key reconciliations such as cash and inventory reconciliations.
- Provide high-quality, complete audit sampling responses to the Group\’s external auditors ensuring deadlines are met.
- Prepare national statistics returns ahead of review by the Accounting Managers.
- Support projects and process improvements as required, adopting a continual process improvements mindset.
Qualifications
- Finance background: strong experience in a multinational environment
- Significant experience of working on external audit requests and confident in dealing with external auditors
- Strong organisational skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to function independently and multi-task
- Strong team working, showing ability to collaborate well and positively influence others
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office; JDE accounting software experience is a plus
