Holme is a small but busy parish which lies entirely within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape and includes Holme Dunes National Nature Reserve plus a key section of the National Trail / Peddars Way. Our Clerk is retiring in June and the Parish Council is looking for a suitably experienced person to support our team of seven councillors.

This is a varied and interesting role offering a flexible working regime with the option of being based at home or at our office in the Village Hall.

  • Organising, attending and reporting to meetings
  • Preparing agendas, posting notices and writing minutes
  • Dealing with Parish Council business including correspondence and phone inquiries
  • Maintaining Parish Council records in accordance with GDPR
  • Keeping financial records, processing receipts and payments
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets and information for auditors
  • Liaising with Councillors, local organisations and external bodies

Good organisational and communication skills are important, together with solid experience of Microsoft 365 / Office (Outlook, WORD, Excel, PowerPoint). Applicants should be self‑motivated and able to plan and manage their own workload. Previous relevant experience would be an advantage but may not be essential. Support will be provided and the appointee will be encouraged to take advantage of training to improve their knowledge and skills.

Salary will be based on 40‑50 working hours per month with actual working hours to be agreed. NJC local government pay scales will apply with spinal point dependent on experience and qualifications.
