An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Infrastructure Team in the ICT Department, supporting the Suffolk and Norfolk forces' joint communications electrical / electronic and RF systems, delivering project work and providing customer support. The work is technical and specialised, but also requires a confident customer service manner and ability to communicate clearly at all levels both verbally and in writing.
It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:
- BTEC HNC in electronic engineering or similar discipline, or demonstrable equivalent knowledge
- Proven experience of working within an electronics, communications or RF maintenance / support role
- Demonstrable ability to perform advanced diagnostics when solving complex technical issues
- Proven experience and ability to work as an effective team member and with limited supervision when required
- Demonstrable IT knowledge and skills, to include proficient keyboard skills and a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work safely at heights and take part in rescue and evacuation (to be verified by medical assessment on appointment)
- Ability to undertake work on electrical and fibre-optic systems (to be verified by medical assessment on appointment)
- Full UK driving licence, owing to the need to drive police vehicles carrying heavy equipment, occasionally out of hours
- Ability to work outside office hours as required, including an on-call rota
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
- ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management
- Qualified to BS 7671: th Edition Regulations
- Experience working on the installation and commissioning of structured cabling
This position is offered as 37 hours per week on a Permanent basis.
