To contribute to achieving the Vision, Mission, and Values of Suffolk and Norfolk Constabularies. To provide a competent service to the Disclosure and Barring Service customers and partners, in order to protect and safeguard the vulnerable members of society. To provide administrative support to enable the efficient provision of service and ensure that Service Level Agreements are met.
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is an Executive Agency of the Home Office set up to help organisations make safer recruitment decisions and to bar unsuitable people from working with children or vulnerable adults. The DBS is currently located in Liverpool and is the central point of contact for employers and members of the public concerning DBS checks and barring decisions. The Suffolk DBS Team sits within the Joint Information Compliance Unit and deals with all requests for a local police search on an enhanced application. Searches are routinely carried out on the core police information assets and any information found, conviction and non-conviction, is tested against the Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) used by all Forces to determine if the information is relevant and proportionate to disclose.
The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills and their ability to work effectively as part of a team. They will demonstrate skills to work on their own initiative with the ability to effectively organise and prioritise their workload with minimal supervision. They will demonstrate their ability to analyse sensitive data, and produce well-written, accurate and decisive reports. The successful applicant will demonstrate practical experience of Microsoft Office programs, and database interrogation. The successful applicant will also demonstrate an understanding of information management and disclosure of police information.
Essential criteria:
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and customer care skills
- Ability to work on own initiative, effectively prioritise work and work to strict deadlines whilst paying close attention to detail, with minimum supervision
- Practical experience of IT packages, including database use and interrogation
- Ability to analyse and evaluate data producing well written reports which display a logical, clear-thinking, and decisive approach.
- A high level of integrity and confidentiality
- Good standard of written and verbal communication for correspondence and reports and be able to speak to people face-to-face and over the telephone clearly and concisely.
