Overview
An opportunity has arisen in the Radiology Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) and Cromer District Hospital for a Band 2 Radiology Department Assistant. The Radiology department sits within the Diagnostic and Clinical Support Services division and provides diagnostic imaging and therapeutic treatments across a range of specialties across the Trust.
This role involves assisting with all aspects of Imaging including preparing patients for examinations, helping to position patients for examinations, assisting with interventional procedures, and having knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology. The role is patient focused, so good communication is essential to assist patients and to demonstrate care and empathy to those who are unwell or distressed, helping them through the Imaging process. The post holder will contribute to the provision of a high standard of care for patients and carry out some duties unaided, in accordance with Trust/Directorate policy, at the discretion of qualified staff.
This role will rotate on a roster basis throughout the department including MRI, CT, Plain Film and Ultrasound, with rotation across NNUH, CDC and Cromer District Hospital as required.
There are various 7.5 hour shifts covering the 24-hour period, including night shifts, over seven days of the week, inclusive of Bank Holidays. A requirement to work across all 3 hospital sites is in place.
This is a full-time role; however, part-time working will be considered. Please include your preferred hours in your application.
Responsibilities
- Assist with imaging procedures and related tasks, including patient preparation and positioning.
- Support interventional procedures under supervision and guidance from qualified staff.
- Demonstrate care and empathy to patients during the imaging process.
- Adhere to Trust/Directorate policies and contribute to delivering high standards of patient care.
- Work across multiple imaging modalities (MRI, CT, Plain Film, Ultrasound) and across sites as required.
- Communicate effectively with patients and the clinical team to ensure smooth workflow and patient experience.
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology is preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; patient-focused with the ability to support distressed or unwell individuals.
