Overview

As a Teaching Adviser, you will translate assessment, evidence and policy into practical, enabling guidance for schools and settings. You’ll work across localities to strengthen inclusive teaching and curriculum access, using coaching and professional learning to build capacity. This role supports early intervention and coordinated multi‑agency work within the SISM framework, helping children with SEND flourish in their local communities. You’ll contribute to a broader transformation of SEND and Inclusion across Norfolk, shaping a new professional offer with cross‑agency collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist teaching advice and intervention using observation, assessment, modelling and coaching to identify needs and improve curriculum access
  • Support whole-setting improvement with leaders and practitioners to evaluate inclusive culture, pedagogy and provision and set development priorities
  • Build professional capability through coaching, networks, resources, training and practice-development activities
  • Contribute teaching expertise to SISM arrangements and multi‑agency forums to strengthen planning and support
  • Assure quality and professional standards through timely, high‑quality advice and participation in supervision and service quality assurance
  • Demonstrate professional leadership, share learning, and lead agreed projects under Senior Teaching Adviser direction

Key requirements

  • Qualified teacher or equivalent recognised teaching qualification with substantial successful teaching experience and a track record of improving outcomes for SEND
  • Understanding of inclusive pedagogy, adaptive teaching, curriculum access, assessment, graduated provision and the SEND Code of Practice
  • Ability to advise, coach and train education professionals and influence practice
  • Strong professional judgement to analyse complex information and prioritise competing demands
  • Experience working with children, families, education leaders and multidisciplinary professionals
  • Willingness to work flexibly across settings, with travel around Norfolk and occasional out‑of‑hours work
  • Regulated activity with children and DBS clearance requirements
