Overview
In this role you support children, young people and families facing crisis to prevent care entry and promote stable, long-term outcomes. You will work across homes, communities and partner agencies to build trust, deliver flexible interventions and provide practical and emotional support. You’ll assess risks and needs, produce high-quality reports, and collaborate with professionals to sustain positive change. The position offers varied, meaningful work with opportunities to grow via supervision and training. You will join a dedicated multi-agency service focused on achieving the best outcomes for young people.

Responsibilities
- Provide intensive, child-focused support to crisis-impacted families
- Build meaningful relationships with children, young people and families
- Deliver flexible, outcome-focused interventions
- Offer practical and emotional support during crises
- Assess strengths, risks and needs to develop sustainable solutions
- Complete high-quality assessments, reports and risk management plans
- Collaborate with a range of professionals and agencies
- Provide support outside normal office hours including evenings and weekends
Key requirements
- Experience working with children, young people and families
- Understanding of child development and challenges facing vulnerable youth
- Effective communication and ability to build trust with diverse people
- Calm, professional under pressure
- Adaptable, resourceful and able to work independently
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people
- Strong observational, assessment and problem-solving skills
- Full driving licence and daily access to a vehicle
- Willingness to achieve NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
