The SHIP Adviser has a lead role in ensuring the provision within the family of SHIP schools effectively meets the needs of children and young people with significant learning difficulties alongside a range of co-occurring needs such as neurodiversity traits, social, emotional and mental health needs to have access to individualised and small group support whilst also benefiting from inclusive practice within the mainstream setting. This leadership role ensures the right support and challenge is in place to embed inclusive practice across all schools with registered SHIP provision, working in an integrated multi-agency partnership approach.
Key functions of the role include:
- Chairing responsibilities for admission arrangements
- Oversight of systems and processes for operational management across organisational boundaries
- Strategic development of the SHIP family as part of an effective system of SEND support in Norfolk
