Job Description

Accountant | 8966 | Fixed Term Contract until 30 November 2027 | 37 hours per week | £50,166 to £54,277 per annum (Scale L) | County Hall, Norwich

If you like a challenge, enjoy working with numbers and people, then please read on.

We are offering an opportunity for an experienced CCAB qualified accountant to join the Adult Social Care Finance Business Partnering team. The role is on a temporary full time basis for 2 years and would be working for the Senior Programme Accountant for Adult Social Care. This role offers you the chance to support real change for one of the Council’s most important services.

The Adult Social Care (ASC) department has an ambitious and stretching transformation agenda. This is being delivered by a four year rolling programme of work that focuses on innovation and integration to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the services they offer to vulnerable people in Norfolk. This vital role would put you at the heart of this change.

Whilst a finance role, the postholder will work closely with colleagues on the change programme within ASC and will support all financial aspects of the service’s transformation projects. You will therefore get the opportunity to be part of a wide array of interesting and thought-provoking pieces of work. In working closely with both programme managers, service leads, and other accountants you will have plenty of opportunities to develop and enhance your existing skill set.

You will be expected to have a strong level of technical financial skills to support non-financial staff with the creation of business cases and key project documentation including providing expert financial advice and specialist financial support such as costings, investment consideration (return on investment) and developing models for financial benefit realisation.

You will need to be able to balance challenging with supporting, as we seek to ensure our investment of taxpayer monies is based on strong evidence and offers value for money. Your role will need to work closely with the wider finance team, Insight and Analytics team and the service department to monitor and evaluate the financial benefits associated with the changes we are undertaking.

We are looking for a proactive individual, who is solutions focused and can remain calm under pressure. It is crucial that you are both competent with numbers but also have an ability to be effective in communicating and influencing.

For an informal discussion about this role please contact Claire Holcroft, Senior Programme Accountant on 01603 222366.
