Overview

NWM/651 Hours: Part Time 22.5 hours per week. Work Pattern: 3 days Monday – Friday, Wednesday being a core day and other days flexible. Contract: 12 month Fixed Term Contract. Salary: £26,292 – £27,835 per annum, salary will be pro rata for part time hours. Salary depending on probation status. Location: County Wide but mainly covering Norwich and surrounding areas.

  • Due to the nature of the role a driver licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role, mileage is paid at 45p per mile for cars after your home to work base mileage is deducted.

About The Role

A new post has been created to improve mental health outcomes for men in Norwich and surrounding areas. The Men’s Mental Health Community Connector will proactively engage men in everyday, male-dominated settings such as workplaces, barbershops, gyms, and sports clubs offering peer-led outreach, early signposting, and training.

The role will work closely with the Suicide Bereavement Service Manager; this is a much needed role that will build community connections, identify unmet needs, and equip local men with the skills to support one another through mental health conversations and referral pathways.

This role aligns with Norfolk and Waveney Mind’s strategic priorities of reaching underserved communities, amplifying lived experience, and improving outcomes through early intervention. The postholder will also support delivery of the Suicide Bereavement Service where required.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • An understanding of men’s mental health and barriers to help-seeking
  • Experience in community engagement or outreach
  • Passion for improving men’s mental health and reducing stigma
  • Experience of delivering training or group sessions

Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR)

This role has a genuine occupational requirement for the postholder to be male, in line with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. This is to help ensure meaningful engagement and support for men’s mental health within the community.
