We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team. This role plays a key role in delivering accurate, timely financial information across the organisation. This role will support robust financial controls, cash flow forecasting, and reporting, while providing high‑quality finance support to colleagues with budgetary responsibility. This is an excellent opportunity for a part‑qualified accountant or finance professional looking to develop their skills in a varied and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain key balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and control accounts
- Take responsibility for all aspects of accounts receivable, including invoicing and debt recovery
- Accurately track and report on designated and restricted funds and grants, working closely with budget holders
- Prepare and maintain 4‑weekly rolling cashflow forecasts
- Support financial monitoring, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Assist with the development and improvement of finance processes, controls, and reporting
- Support the production of clear, accessible financial information for non‑finance managers
- Provide cover for the Management Accountant when required
Qualifications
- Part‑qualified or actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification
- Proven experience in a similar finance role
- Strong Excel skills (including pivot tables) and excellent attention to detail
- Confidence working with financial systems (Access Financials desirable but not essential)
- Experience within the charity sector, knowledge of Charity SORP, Sage 50 Payroll, or HR systems (PeopleHR/Evo Access) would be advantageous but is not essential
