Job overview Reed ward is a 13 bed female organic admission and assessment ward. We are looking for a person who is kind and compassionate to others, and has a focus on person centred care. As a staff nurse on Reed ward, you will be managing the day-to-day shift coordination, meeting the holistic needs of service users with varying degrees of cognitive impairment whilst utilising nursing skills in both mental health and physical health approaches as well as working with the MDT to oversee and coordinate the assessment and treatment of the service users. You will be working among a team of Doctors, Nurses, clinical support workers, physiotherapists, social workers and Occupational Therapists. You will work closely with the loved ones of service users to integrate life story work into the care planning of service users. Within this job role, you will be offered training, as well as at least monthly support by your line-manager. We believe that within a team it is important that staff feel listened to and are able to make change happen. Main duties of the job Keeping accurate records, updating care plans and risk assessments Monitoring a service user\’s physical health and being able to respond to a deteriorating patient Conducting relevant assessments for nurses – such as risk assessments, physical health assessments such as MUST and Waterlow, falls assessments. Leading a variety of meetings such as MDT, admission, best interest and discharge planning meetings Acting in a service user\’s best interests, advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves Assessing the capacity of a service user Supervising and assessing student nurses Providing line management supervision to clinical support worker staff Being accountable for your work and being a reflective practitioner Completing medication rounds and administering IM medication Communicating regularly with carers Completing nursing assessments such as continuing health care. Overseeing the admission and discharge processes on the ward Working within legalities of the job, checking of T2/T3 forms, reading of 132 rights, writing tribunal reports where necessary.
