Lead Nurse Assessor- Lung Cancer Screening Programme in Norwich

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated nurse to join our Lung Screening Programme as the Lead Nurse Assessor. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving early detection of lung cancer and other respiratory conditions, reducing health inequalities and supporting patients through screening, assessment and follow-up.

This is a pivotal leadership position supporting the delivery and development of the regional lung screening service at NNUH, part of the East of England Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) network. We support flexible working patterns, combining hybrid on-site working with the option to work from home.

You will liaise directly with Acute colleagues and co-ordinate the MDT meetings required to keep the flow of patient care effective between all providers. The post will include coordination of the service being delivered across multiple locations in line with local CT scanning capacity and patient choice, team leading and coordinating staff duties, ordering, lead for health and safety, the day-to-day link with our GP colleagues and community teams, Business Intelligence and Operational Lead. They will also be required to represent the service at appropriate meetings within the Trust and to promote the service to the wider health community.

Job responsibilities:

• The Post holder will be the main clinical contact for the day to day running of the Target Lung Health Checks Programme ensuring safe and effective practice.
• To be responsible for organising and prioritising own and others workload in the day-to-day allocation of work.
• To deputise when required in the operational leads absence and when required to delegate appropriately to other team members.
• To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly administration of medicine and moving and handling.
• To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
• To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing, and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.
• Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge and skills in the speciality of screening in respiratory medicine in relation to the assessment, care and management of patients with respiratory conditions.
• Provide specialist, expert clinical knowledge to clinical colleagues, patients and carers/relatives.

Person Specification:

• RGN (level 1) or equivalent AHP registration
• Evidence of relevant post registration study
• MSc level or working towards

• Proven post registration experience with proven experience in specialist field
• Experience of change management and service development

• Able to communicate complex/sensitive/technical information, clearly, succinctly and with empathy in a variety of settings
• Effective role model, demonstrating NNUH's PRIDE values of People focussed, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence
• Demonstrates understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

£47,810 to £54,710 a year per annum, pro rata.
