Lead Clinical Specialist Dietitian & Team Lead - Paediatric Gastro in Norwich

We are looking for a Lead Dietitian to join our Paediatric team, supporting the Paediatric Gastroenterology service and the Paediatric ward settings. Main duties of the job

• Independently manage a caseload of Gastroenterology patients, complex nutritional and complex ward patients both on our paediatric ward and as outpatients, providing expert nutritional assessment, advice, and support.
• Develop and review complex patient plans balancing the importance of nutrition alongside complex gastroenterology, surgical and medical care needs.
• Attend regional meetings and be the dietetic lead for our paediatric PN.
• Lead on this area, managing the band 6 and band 5 dietitians.
• Work closely with our multidisciplinary teams, contribute to service development, and act as a role model for our PRIDE values.
• Demonstrate strong clinical knowledge, empathy, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Exhibit excellent communication, organisational skills, and a commitment to ongoing learning.

Typical decisions you will make:

• Adjusting nutritional care plans including PN in response to changing clinical needs including surgical.
• Prioritising your workload to balance direct patient care, MDT meetings, and service improvement projects.
• Using excellent communication skills to liaise within the MDT to advocate for best care for complex, vulnerable patients.

Job responsibilities

• Act as the lead specialist for the specified clinical area, managing own highly specialist caseload.
• Provide training and education in the area of clinical speciality to other dietitians and healthcare professionals as appropriate.
• Provide advanced nutritional and dietetic advice in specialist area to medical, health care professionals and other agencies.
• Assess, plan and implement complex treatment programmes and monitor patients in a variety of settings, offering therapeutic dietary advice and education, to address patients' complex and changing needs.
• Lead service development within own clinical area and contribute to the nutrition and dietetic service as a whole through participation in service development.
• You will be encouraged and supported in your CPD, and as you progress in the role we will want you to share your knowledge with the wider department, helping to inform and develop departmental policies where required.

Person Specification

• BSc Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
• Extensive experience in Clinical Dietetics, a significant period of which should be in the specialist area
• Excellent time management and ability to prioritise workload
• Ability to provide leadership especially within the clinical speciality
• Ability to deal with distressed patients/relatives/carers and staff
