The Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group comprises James Paget University Hospital, The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn. All future senior medical and dental appointments will be expected to work across the Group and may be required to work at more than one hospital site depending on service needs. The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Take a share of clinical responsibilities within the Department of Anaesthesia, including provision for peri-operative assessment clinics where required.
  • Provide anaesthesia for adult patients in all specialties appropriate to training and experience, in addition to duties within subspecialty.
  • Participate in a on-call rota (approximately 1:20) for emergency on-call work. Separate on-call rotas exist for paediatric anaesthesia, weekend and bank holiday day trauma theatres, intensive care medicine and obstetric anaesthesia.
  • Be involved in implementing the Trust\’s Clinical Governance programme, including clinical audit, quality improvement, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.
  • Collaborate across the Group on service delivery and model development as part of the acute clinical strategy.

Location and Pattern of Work

Service location may change as future models of care are developed by clinically led networks. Some procedures or services may be delivered at sites other than the primary site of employment. The appointment is to the Trust and the appointee will take shared clinical responsibilities within the Department of Anaesthesia.

Eligibility and Administration
