We are looking for an experienced, inspiring Room-Based to join our baby group in Nordic Star Nursery, our beautiful, modern, Nordic-inspired flagship nursery in Islington. This position is a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious early years professional who wants to move beyond “business as usual” childcare and be part of something genuinely innovative. Nordic Star is the first nursery in the UK to implement a truly Nordic approach to early education, in partnership with FinlandWay®. Our pedagogy is rooted in play, participation, well-being, and child-led learning, while remaining fully aligned with the EYFS statutory framework.
About the Role
- Lead practice within your room, ensuring high-quality, child-centred provision
- Act as a role model and mentor for practitioners, apprentices, and new team members
- Support Ofsted readiness, reflective practice, and continuous improvement
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Champion the FinlandWay® philosophy alongside the EYFS
We are looking for someone who has:
Essential
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years / Childcare (or above)
- Right to work in the UK
- Experience working with children aged 3 months to 4 years
- Strong working knowledge of the EYFS Statutory Framework
- A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- Excellent organisation skills, reliability, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- The ability to work flexibly, adapt to change, and use initiative
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both families and colleagues
