Nordic Outdoor is on a mission to bring the Scandinavian approach to the outdoors to the UK. As an independent retailer with stores in Edinburgh, London and the Lake District, we see ourselves as ambassadors for Scandinavian culture, clothing and equipment. We are now preparing to open a new store in Edinburgh, building on the success of our existing locations. This new space will showcase our curated range of premium outdoor clothing and equipment alongside dedicated shop-in-shop areas for two of the world’s leading outdoor brands - bringing their first physical retail presence to Scotland.

This is a hands-on leadership role within a lean, high-performing team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the store, working closely with:

  • An experienced Assistant Manager
  • A small team of sales advisors
  • Our Head Office team

You will spend the majority of your time on the shopfloor:

  • Leading by example in customer service and sales
  • Supporting the team during peak trading periods
  • Ensuring a high standard of presentation across all areas of the store

What makes this role different:

  • A new store opening - opportunity to shape team, culture and standards
  • A premium, service-led retail environment
  • A lean team structure with real ownership and responsibility
  • Close collaboration with Head Office and senior leadership
  • The opportunity to work with two globally recognised outdoor brands in dedicated shop-in-shop environments
  • A chance to be part of launching these brands’ first physical retail presence in Scotland

Who we’re looking for:

  • Has experience managing in a fast-paced retail environment (outdoor, fashion or premium retail preferred)
  • Is a strong salesperson first and foremost, confident leading from the front
  • Is comfortable working in a hands-on role within a small team
  • Can coach and develop others, building confidence in product knowledge and selling skills
  • Is confident working collaboratively within a leadership team
  • Has an interest in outdoor clothing and equipment (training will be provided)

This role will suit someone who enjoys being on the shopfloor and leading a team through example, rather than from the back office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the store
  • Drive sales performance and maximise opportunities on the shopfloor
  • Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service
  • Support and develop the store team through training and coaching
  • Oversee store presentation, including dedicated shop-in-shop brand areas, ensuring a consistent and high-quality brand experience
  • Manage rota planning, stock processes and general administration
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures including health & safety, cash handling and stock control
  • Work closely with Head Office to support ongoing development of the store

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary + commission structure
  • Opportunity to open and shape a new store
  • Close collaboration with senior leadership
  • Ongoing product and sales training
  • The chance to grow with a developing independent retailer

This is a full-time, permanent role (5 days per week). Flexibility is required, including weekend working.

To apply, please submit your CV and a short cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
