Nordic BESS is a new and ambitious company building utility-scale battery storage solutions that provide greater flexibility to the power system and facilitate the integration of more renewable energy. With offices in Oslo and London, strong owners, and a highly competent team, the company is well positioned in a market with significant growth and major opportunities.
The company is now entering an exciting phase where operations, performance, and commercial optimisation of its assets are becoming increasingly important. This is an opportunity for you to take on a central role in a company in strong development while contributing directly to the energy transition in the Nordics.
The position involves hiring an Asset Manager for a newly created role. The role will be central at the interface between operations, technology, commercial considerations, and external partners, with responsibility for performance, uptime, and operational follow-up of a portfolio of utility-scale battery storage assets.
You will work closely with both internal resources and external suppliers, having significant influence on how the company manages, optimises, and further develops the portfolio. The role is suited to someone who combines technical and operational understanding with structure, commercial awareness, and the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
You will report to the Operations Director and play a central role in ensuring that the assets deliver in accordance with technical, regulatory, environmental, and contractual requirements. You will contribute to improvements, optimisation, and learning across the portfolio through analysis of operational and market data, KPI follow-up, and active use of relevant monitoring systems.
The role involves close follow-up of suppliers and contracts, coordination of maintenance and downtime in collaboration with internal commercial teams and Route-to-Market partners, as well as efforts to reduce downtime and negative revenue impact. You will also contribute to prequalification and participation in new markets and ancillary services, ensuring sound risk management, incident handling, and an up-to-date risk register for the portfolio.
The position includes site visits, where you will assess technical condition, delivery quality, and identify improvement areas in collaboration with suppliers and external advisors.
At Nordic BESS, you will have the opportunity to join from an early stage in a company with clear ambitions, strong owners, and attractive market opportunities. The role is suited to someone who wants to do more than manage operations; here, you will help influence how a new company builds structure, practices, and operational quality from the ground up.
You can expect:
- A central role in a new energy initiative with strong relevance to the energy transition in the Nordics
- Significant influence in a company with strong owners and a strong market position
- The opportunity to help build the portfolio, ways of working, and operational environment
- Broad exposure to technical, operational, and commercial topics
- A high-performing and motivated team with an international perspective
- A role at the intersection of technology, energy markets, and infrastructure
- An opportunity to work in a market with significant growth potential
We encourage you to apply if you recognise yourself in the role, the ambition, and the opportunity – even if you do not meet every point in the requirements profile but have relevant experience and motivation to contribute to the development of Nordic BESS. To succeed in the role, we believe you have:
- Preferably 5+ years of experience from the energy sector, ideally within renewable energy, utilities, power generation, or related areas
- Experience with operations, follow-up, or asset management of battery storage assets or other operational energy assets
- Experience following up suppliers and contracts related to operations and maintenance
- Strong analytical capability and the ability to translate data into concrete actions and improvements
- A degree in engineering, science, or another numerical/technical discipline is advantageous
- Familiarity with monitoring, analytics, and programming tools, for example SCADA, Python, SQL, or similar
We also believe you recognise yourself in several of the following:
- You are analytical and have strong attention to detail
- You are proactive, structured, and take ownership of deliveries
- You are solution-oriented and thrive in a developing market
- You communicate well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You collaborate well across disciplines and functions
- You are motivated by contributing to the energy transition and the development of the future power system
Does this sound like the right role for you? We would like to hear from you. The process is being carried out in collaboration with recruitment advisor Thomas Schibbye at Glasspaper People. Please note that due to the holiday period, selection will mainly take place in August.
