We are currently looking to recruit a Wind Turbine Service Technician on a Permanent basis to join the team working across our Stirling wind farms.

How can you make a difference?

As a Wind Turbine Service Technician you will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of Nordex wind turbines for Nordex UK. You will carry out general and specialised work including repairs, troubleshooting and fault-finding activities. Our goal is to achieve a high level of availability for the running of the turbines!

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for Wind Turbine availability which means physically troubleshooting turbines with low availability on site in various wind farms as well as analysing data and other information to be able to create and support implementing action plans that will increase availability in the fleet.

Key responsibilities for this role include:
• On site performance analysis and action plan implementation
• Working closely with Technicians and Back Office staff to perform on the job demonstrations.
• Supporting on site single turbine improvements on problem turbines
• Providing on site software & hardware updates,
• Supporting on-line and on phone technical support,
• Creating reports on turbine or turbine components
• Parameter disabling and alarm change handling when necessary.

Our core hours are 40 per week (Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm). If there is a problem with a wind turbine at the end of your shift you may be asked to stay and work overtime to get it fixed! We also need our Service Technicians to be available for any breakdowns and faults at the weekend, therefore you will work on-call every 2nd or 3rd weekend (depending on the size of your team). Overtime is paid at time and a half, and you will receive an additional payment for the weekend you are on on-call.

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in the Mechanical / Electrical industry and be able to demonstrate knowledge of reading electrical, hydraulic and mechanical diagrams.

You will be Mechanical or Electrical trained through time-served or a technical college qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)

You will be able to demonstrate you can identify and define problems, extract crucial information from technical data, and develop workable solutions to problems and have the ability to work in an environment of continuous change and different challenges. With a positive attitude and willingness to learn, lead, and improve.

You are computer literate and confident in using MS office, in hour databased and workload management systems, bonus points if you have used SAP.

This role involves working at heights, up to 100m. You will need to be fit and health and pass a working at height test.

You will be required to travel on a regular basis which includes nights away from home. A full UK / EU Driving Licence is required for this role.
