Nordex has an exciting opportunity for the role of Mechanical Supervisor covering our sites across the UK & Ireland.
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: UK & Ireland
Hours: This role works on a rotation of 3 weeks on site and 1 rest week
How can you make a difference?
The main purpose of the Mechanical Supervisor role is to provide mechanical expertise during the installation and finishing phase of our projects in order to prepare the Wind Turbine Generator or Wind Farm for commissioning.
What will you be doing?
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Compliance with the HSE rules with the erection/finishing of designated subcontractors during the installation and completion of the WTG
- Monitoring and supervision of erection and completion of the WEA in terms of professional, technical, and high-quality performance of the work by the subcontractors.
- Training of colleagues and of sub-contractors on site
- Execution of the mechanical part of the quality check by using the checklist Q-Gate 23
- Check for completeness and accuracy of erection reports and the associated documents.
- Continuous improvement on documentation and processes in relation with area of responsibility
- Supporting the site manager with the inspection of incoming goods (gate1) on site.
- Creating reports according to the relevant NC process.
- Checking the tools brought and used by the subcontractor. Tools must be calibrated and be permitted.
- Control and hand out of special tools and equipment from the Nordex erection container to the subcontractor.
- Control of the correct torque applied on structural bolts, in accordance with the specifications.
- Technical guidance for corrective measures to remedy the defect by the subcontract tor.
- Notification of defective or missing parts to the site manager with the purpose of replacement of these parts.
- Checking of subcontractors in terms of qualification of the personnel: Certificates torque technology, service lift, fall protection.
- Reports to the site manager about the current status of erection and finishing works of the WTG.
- Creating the required documents specifically list of defects according Order Execution Process G0630_EN.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree standard with significant experience working in a similar role. You will have proven experience of K08 installation processes and best practices and have practical experience of working with cranes.
You will have an In depth technical knowledge and experience with wind farms and turbines and have the capacity to drive and influence stakeholders in regards to the implementation of the appropriate technical solutions.
Health & Safety is a high priority for Nordex and this candidate should have a strong understanding of HSE risks and prevention to reduce these risks. Knowledge of CDM site regulations and a Irish Safe Pass and CSCS cards are included.
This role will require the successful candidate to have the motivation to work on remote sites and you will be away from home approximately 60% in time of the year. This role also requires you to have a full UK/EU Driving Licence.
This role works on a rotation of 3 weeks on site and 1 week offsite.
