We are looking for a Wind Turbine Service Technician based at Glen Kyllachy Windfarm in the Scottish Highlands.
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Glen Kyllachy Windfarm, Scottish Highlands
Hours: Core hours 37 per week (Monday – Thursday 8am – 4:30pm, Friday 8am – 1pm). Overtime required as needed. Our Service Technicians are also required to be available for any breakdowns and faults on weekends, working on‑call every 2nd or 3rd weekend (depending on team size). Overtime is paid at time and a half, with additional payment for weekend on‑call periods. Successful candidates must live within approximately one hour of the windfarm.
Responsibilities:
- The main role involves servicing and maintaining Nordex wind turbines across the fleet, ensuring high availability and performance.
- On‑site performance analysis and implementation of action plans.
- Collaborate with Technicians and Back Office staff to demonstrate on‑the‑job solutions.
- Support on‑site improvements for single problem turbines.
- Provide on‑site software and hardware updates.
- Offer online and telephone technical support.
- Create reports on turbine performance and component status.
- Disable parameters and handle alarm changes when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Ideal candidates will have mechanical or electrical industry experience and be able to read electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagrams.
- A technical qualification of at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is required.
- Experience in troubleshooting and fault‑finding in turbine operations.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, able to extract critical information from technical data and develop workable solutions.
- Adaptability to continuous change and varied challenges.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn, lead, and improve continuously.
- Computer literacy, comfortable with MS Office, in‑house databases, and workload management systems.
- Fit and healthy, able to pass a working‑at‑height test (up to 140 m).
- Occasional travel, including nights away from home.
- Full UK/EU driving licence.
