Wind Turbine Service Technician – Douglas, South Lanarkshire
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Douglas, South Lanarkshire
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm) with overtime when required. Availability for weekend breakdowns/on-call every 2nd or 3rd weekend (depends on team size). Overtime paid at time and a half, and additional weekend on-call payment applies.
Overview
Nordex has an exciting opportunity for the role of Wind Turbine Service Technician based near Douglas, South Lanarkshire. You will be responsible for servicing and maintaining Nordex wind turbines in the Douglas area to maximise availability.
What you will be doing
- On-site performance analysis and action plan implementation
- Collaborate with Technicians and Back Office staff to perform on-the-job demonstrations
- Support on-site single-turbine improvements on problem turbines
- Provide on-site software & hardware updates
- Support online and phone technical support
- Create reports on turbine or turbine components
- Parameter disabling and alarm change handling when necessary
Responsibilities
- Ensure wind turbine availability by troubleshooting turbines not performing to capacity on various wind farms
- Analyze data and information to develop and support action plans to increase fleet performance
What we are looking for
- Experience in Mechanical or Electrical industries with ability to read electrical, hydraulic and mechanical diagrams
- Mechanical or Electrical training through time-served or technical college qualification (at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to extract crucial information from technical data
- Adaptability to continuous change and challenges
- Positive attitude with willingness to learn, lead, and continuously improve
- Computer literate; proficient with MS Office, in-house databases, and workload management systems
- Ability to work at heights (up to 140m) and pass a working-at-height test
- Willingness to travel occasionally, including nights away from home
- Full UK/EU Driving Licence
