About the role

Project Manager based at our UK Head Office in Manchester.

Contract Type: Permanent.

Location: Didsbury, Manchester with regular travel to sites across the UK & Ireland.

Hours: 37 hours per week, including a 3 pm finish on Fridays.

The Project Manager role at Nordex manages and controls projects in terms of time, cost and quality from the handover from our sales team to the handover to our customer and the Nordex Service team.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Sales teams in the final stages of tender processes and facilitating a smooth handover from Sales to Project Management.
  • Executing comprehensive projects on-time, within budget and to good quality.
  • Managing and monitoring all aspects of environment, health and safety.
  • First contact for all parties involved in the project such as client, subcontractors, suppliers and any other internal or external party.
  • Negotiation with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Responsibility for contract and claim management towards clients and subcontractors.
  • Managing personnel and providing strong control of subcontractors and key suppliers including but not limited to erection and transportation companies throughout the project execution phase.
  • Securing correct project handling and creating a successful team from various departments such as central engineering, logistics, site management, commissioning engineer, erection supervisors.
  • Monitoring and safeguarding required level of quality throughout erection, finishing and commissioning works within given budget and time frame.
  • Defining and initiating appropriate corrective actions for problems encountered during the execution of the project (related to cost, time and/or quality).
  • Creating necessary transparency with regards to the optimisation of cost-effectiveness in cooperation with Commercial Project Management.
  • Working within Nordex processes to manage and report progress on project with a monthly status report including reporting to the Area PM with regards to HSE, quality, cost, progress of the works, claims, installed equipment and quality.
  • Managing and reporting on project KPIs.
  • Facilitating a smooth handover to colleagues in the Service department.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience as a Project Manager for complex technical projects in Civil Construction, Manufacturing or plant engineering industries (wind or other energy sectors in the UK and Ireland preferred).
  • Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in all aspects of project management, including full responsibility for multi-million EUR contracts and strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Strong leadership and team-working skills, with ability to create a successful and enjoyable team.
  • Proven experience of leading the delivery of large, complex, and technically challenging projects with utility-scaled clients; experience of turnkey projects preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work with different business cultures.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
