We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer – Tooling Maintenance to support the maintenance, servicing, and upkeep of our tooling. As a business, we have been entrusted with the manufacture of critical components for some of the world’s largest companies for over 50 years. This is a hands‑on, shop‑floor focused role working closely with toolmakers, toolroom staff, production engineers and wider maintenance teams. The role is focused on stripping, cleaning, inspecting and rebuilding tooling to a high standard, while helping ensure tooling remains reliable and production‑ready.
Previously, you may have worked as a mechanical or maintenance engineer, toolmaker, ex‑toolmaker, or someone experienced in precision mechanical work. This position is a Permanent and full‑time role.
Duties:- Stripping down tooling for servicing and inspection
- Cleaning, maintaining, and rebuilding tooling to a high standard
- Identifying wear, damage, or potential issues during inspection
- Supporting toolmakers with preparation and maintenance activities
- Assisting with general toolroom tasks and organisation
- Carrying out general mechanical maintenance across the business
- Working closely with production and engineering teams to minimise issues
- Maintain a methodical, careful and high-quality approach to all tooling work
- Support wider toolroom and maintenance activities when required
- Strong mechanical background (manufacturing or engineering environment)
- Comfortable with hands‑on work involving strip‑down and rebuild of components
- High attention to detail and quality of work
- Patient, methodical, and thorough in approach
- Able to work well with toolmakers, engineers, and production teams
- Willing to support general maintenance when needed
- Experience as a mechanical engineer, maintenance engineer, toolmaker or ex‑toolmaker would be beneficial
- Experience in precision mechanical work would be desirable
- Takes pride in completing work properly and to a high standard
