Join Nordcloud, an IBM Company and be part of the European cloud revolution. We supercharge our customers to innovate in hyperscaler cloud, enabling seamless migration, advanced security, and data-driven success. Currently, we are looking for an Azure Cloud Architect for our team in the UK.
Your daily responsibilities:
- Designing, building, and operating the Azure cloud platform and hybrid on‑premises infrastructure supporting 2 production systems:
- Screening - Django web application on Azure Container Apps
- Screening Gateway - on‑premises Python DICOM gateway deployed across 70+ sites via Azure Relay Hybrid Connections
- Owning end‑to‑end solution design (networking, security, identity, compute, storage, observability), delivering all IaC, maintaining CI/CD, and producing operational and governance documentation.
- Aligning role with Microsoft Support and Customer Success, acting as the single point of contact for escalations, architecture reviews, and proactive service improvements.
- Communicating design and build inputs and improvements effectively to Microsoft teams.
- Overseeing technical excellence within the engineering team by identifying gaps and ensuring quality, while maintaining clear communication with senior clients and internal stakeholders regarding technical progress and issues.
Your key skills:
- Hands‑on experience with Cloud Architecture Design and/or Cloud Architectural Patterns for Development
- Experience leading other Cloud Architects and leading delivery engagements
- Advanced knowledge of Azure (other cloud provider is a plus)
- Solid engineering/technical background/hands‑on experience with conceptualizing, strategizing, and architecting cloud solutions.
- Windows and/or Linux sys op background
- Previous experience in the design and delivery of systems based on IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings, as well as exposure to different architecture models
- DevOps skills for leading the team and consulting the customer
- Experience with building CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of security, network, virtualization, load balancer, storage, and database
- Container technologies experience (e.g. Kubernetes, OpenShift)
- Hands‑on experience with IaaC for managing the cloud
- Coding/scripting skills (Bash, Python, Powershell, or similar)
- Active customer consultant and pre‑sales attitude are a must
- Fluent communication skills in English
