JOB PURPOSE

You’ll help us to promote the core values of the school, and ensure that teaching and learning meets the expectations of the school; demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge and a proactive approach towards professional development and actively contribute to wider school development and growth.

  • Create high quality lessons and foster a desire for inquiry and concept-based learning.
  • Lead the learning and development of your students as they embark on their exciting journey through I&S, Business Management and Economics.
  • Deliver consistently strong lessons and results that are driven by high academic standards.
  • Actively and enthusiastically contribute beyond the classroom in the wider context of the school community.
  • Establish and maintain positive, respectful, ethical and collaborative relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Show the highest regard and respect for others; the culture and traditions, heritage, language and the regulatory framework/requirements of the country of location.
  • Get involved and step up to lead the school and extracurricular activities, participating in NAU, promotional activities, school workshops and PA events.
  • Actively seek to use Global Campus and social media to encourage collaboration across schools helping students towards global citizenship.
  • Forge positive professional relationships and work with parents in the best interests of the students making the education, wellbeing and safeguarding of students, her/his first concern.
  • Understand and apply a range of effective classroom management strategies.
  • Understand and apply a range of teaching strategies with student centred learning at the heart of your teaching.
  • Positively target and support individual learning needs and work in collaboration with our learning support team.
  • Maintain a high level of behaviour, discipline and respect for others.
  • Effectively use homework and other extra-curricular learning opportunities.
  • Foster high expectations for all students across all teaching areas.
  • Effectively manage other adults in the classroom.
  • Use performance data to evaluate students' progress and set appropriate targets for improvement.
  • Have extensive knowledge and use a wide variety of innovative informal and formal assessment to refine practice and promote the highest outcomes.
  • Report on progress to all stakeholders.
  • Have a well-developed, extensive knowledge of subject specialism and related pedagogy.
  • Conceptualise and plan well-structured lessons and programmes that engage, inspire and stretch students; encouraging them to be ambitious.
  • Have high expectations of behaviour, establish leadership in the classroom and use a variety of management strategies to ensure effective and productive classes for students.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of good practice in teaching techniques and IB expectations in your subject.
  • Have an awareness of wider curriculum developments.
  • Have a strong desire to engage students and provide opportunities for creativity.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Qualified teacher with experience teaching in an international environment.
  • Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure for all countries lived in.
  • Compliance with visa requirements for working in China.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, and a willingness to undertake appropriate child protection training when required.
  • The ability to integrate technology into the classroom experience to enhance and extend the learning of students.
  • Successfully teach students using technology in a virtual/hybrid environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for producing reports and presentations.
  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
  • Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
  • Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
